Krabi
Day 1
Originally, we were going to use Bangkok as a stop over to get to Krabi. However, when we arrived in Bangkok, something sparked that told us we didn’t want to leave and we felt like we enjoyed it more than the first time we came. So we decided to stay for 3 nights to do a bit more exploring and also to chill. Recharge our batteries. I didn’t write a blog post on it as we didn’t do an awful lot but it was nice to just chilllllllll out.
Anyway, we booked a sleeper bus from Bangkok to Krabi. It was dreadful! Usually on a sleeper bus, we actually get beds since we are travelling through the night and it is a ‘sleeper bus’. However, this one was a coach with seats that reclined only a little bit. Great. We left around 7pm and I was just starting to nod off in my lovely (NOT) seat around midnight when the bus stopped and ordered us all to get off for a break. Wonderful. Then, we got back on the bus and again, I managed to just about fall sleep when it stopped around 3am. This time we had to change buses and wait a while for the bus to come. Then, we set off again on our journey until it stopped around 6am to change buses again! I was actually getting so fed up and we felt so tired. To finish off the journey, we had to change at about 8am to a mini van to actually go to our hotel. Worst journey ever but again, at least it got here safely.
Once we arrived in Krabi, we dropped our bags at our hotel which was called KL Boutique Hotel and we headed off for breakfast. The usual plan after a sleeper bus journey! Then, we soon checked in. Our room was so lovely. It was a private room with a fan and there was lots of space. Again, this one was only around £10 per night between us so an absolute bargain with breakfast too. I love the prices in Asia.

Once we had showered and got ready, we went for our first explore of Krabi. It seemed pretty cool. Very touristy and quite built up but still a lovely place with culture. We had a wander around some temples. I don’t think I could ever get bored of visiting temples; they are all unique in their own way. Then in true Thailand spirit, it started pouring it down with rain so for the next hour or so we sheltered at the temple wishing the rain to go away.

Later on, there was a food night market so we spent the evening there. I have definitely missed the thai food. We both ordered a thai dish and ate it in the middle of the market on some seats, very fancy! In the distance, we spotted a doughnut stall so guess what we had after dinner?

Day 2
We woke up and had some toast for breakfast! The hotel had lots of different types of jam so of course I had to try them all. It is the littlest things. The plan for today was to go to Railay beach so I packed my book and towel and off we went! We had to go on a long tail boat that took around 45 minutes. Originally, it was pretty expensive but we always bargain with to get the price down. I think it was around £5/6 each, so good!
Railay beach was beautiful. It seemed to have a Jamacian vibe to it with many Jamacian bars, cafes and restaurants. We headed straight for the beach and put our towels down. Lewis went on the paddle board whilst I sat down with my book. So relaxing. Even though it was cloudy, it was still a lovely beach to relax and unwind on. We spent a few hours there and then grabbed some food. It was the simple noodles and rice! Our long tail boat driver said he would wait for us because we bought a return and once we arrived to the pier we couldn’t find him! We had a picture of the boat and we spent ages going up and down looking for him but to our disappointment, he wasnt there! It was now half 5 and we had to get back soon because of the tide. Eventually, a man came up to us and said ‘oh your driver had to leave so I will take you’. Interesting! But at least we got back!

In the evening, there was a weekend food market on (an even bigger one that yesterday eek) so we headed there. It even had a big stage with live entertainment oo! For dinner, I found a jacket potato stall oh my goodness! I don’t usually eat them a lot at home but being away from home food for so long meant I was practically running up to the stall! I had it with cheese and beans and it most definitely did not disappoint.

Day 3
After fuelling up on toast and coffee again, we made our way to Tiger Cave Temple. I knew I wanted to visit here when coming to Krabi to see the views from the mountain. The place actually lived up to its name. It had fake tigers everywhere and dragons! I was straight in there with my head in one of the tigers mouths haha. Yet again, this temple was beautiful with such vibrant, golden and red colours. I spent ages admiring the shining colours. The main reason we came here was to do the hike. It was a thousand and something steps up a mountain and my gosh it was a trek. It was SO HARD! It made it worse because the steps were so steep. Every step was a struggle. At times we thought we weren’t going to make it haha. It just seemed never ending. When we FINALLY reached the top, we nearly collapsed and were soaked with sweat, so lovely! But it was worth it as the views were insane! Krabi looked so amazing from the top. After relaxing up there for a while and taking many shots, we made our way back down. On the journey, lots of monkeys appeared! One even tried to go into Lewis’ bag. You have to be so careful and observant of them.

Once we arrived back, we popped on our rain macs and headed to the food market again. This time we both tried a variety of foods and then finished the night with a chocolate and sweet fountain. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop!

Day 4
Today is one of the days that we have been waiting for… PHI PHI ISLANDS! We had a 8am pickup to take us to the ferry port and we couldn’t wait to get there.
